I’m deeply frustrated by my experience at Tampines ActiveSG Swimming Complex today. Pacific Swim School (yellow caps) and another swimming school (white caps) had booked several lanes, but Pacific Swim School went beyond their allocated space and **took over an unbooked lane**, leaving the public with **only one lane** to swim in.
When it started raining, many outdoor swimmers had no choice but to move indoors. Even then, the schools made **no effort** to vacate the unbooked lane or adjust their class setup. At one point, **eight people were squeezed into a single public lane**, and **twelve people were struggling in the shared circuit lane**. It was extremely congested and dangerous – a completely unacceptable experience for public users.
I strongly urge the authorities to take action and:
1. **Reduce the number of lanes swim schools can book during peak hours (e.g., 6 pm–8 pm).**
2. **Clearly display the lesson schedules of swim schools, especially Pacific.**
3. **Enforce stricter lane usage. Why aren't lifeguards stepping in when schools overstep their booking?**
This isn’t a one-off issue; it’s a recurring problem that shortchanges paying public users. I hope ActiveSG seriously looks into this.
"It was super crowded this morning. The indoor competition pool is closed for a water polo competition, but the notice was only posted at the entrance. There were no updates about this on their website either. As a result, the swimming lessons took up so much space, and only 2 lanes were open for lap swimming."
"The swimming pool is big, but it gets crowded during peak hours. Weekend swimming classes take up two lanes, leaving only two lanes for public use. The kids' fun play area is big enough for them to enjoy."
- Located on Level 6 of Tampines Hub.
- Feature pool: S$2.60 for adults on weekends.
- The competition pool has shelter. The kids' pool and training pool are outdoors. The jacuzzi pool is closed until further notice.
- The changing room and toilet are not very clean.
- Many people learn to swim here.
"Bought two adult tickets and one child ticket on May 8th. We went to the pool at 10:15 AM. After entering and changing into our swimwear, we were asked to leave due to bad weather and told to come back one hour later. However, when we returned, we were still denied entry and they didn't explain why. When we asked for a refund, they said it wasn't possible. Rubbish management."
"This place opened a while ago, and I only found out about it yesterday, lol. I love the setup. The kids' pool is great, and they've provided seats for parents to watch over them. There are lifeguards patrolling to make sure kids follow the rules. Toilets are nearby as well. Highly recommended. Clean and safe."
Big, open pool.
Entrance is cheap, around $2.
The ticket gives access to the open outdoor pool, an indoor pool used for competitions, a kids' water area, and a jacuzzi, too.
Washrooms need maintenance and are mostly crowded with queues on the weekends.
Guards are present at every corner to ensure people don't misbehave, follow the rules, and maintain decorum.
"I ordered brown sugar fresh milk, but they gave me brown sugar milk tea. When I told him he prepared it wrong, he said he couldn't change it. Seriously? I paid for the drink and he's telling me he can't fix it."
Bubble tea at a more reasonable price. You can specify the sweetness level. For most drinks, you can request less ice or no ice without a top-up, except for drinks with fresh milk or yang zhi gan lu. CDC vouchers are accepted here.
