Tampines Regional Library stands as Singapore's pioneering regional public library, proudly holding the distinction of being the first of its kind when it opened in 1994. After relocating to Our Tampines Hub in 2017, this remarkable five-storey facility has transformed into a world-class learning and community space that serves as the heart of Tampines' intellectual and cultural life.
The library's impressive renovation increased floor space by 76 percent and seating capacity by 98 percent, now housing over 400,000 books and materials. This vast collection includes specialized sections for overseas Chinese literature, children's books, IT and business resources, plus microfilm services for research purposes.
Beyond traditional library services, the facility features MakeIT at Tampines, a free public makerspace where visitors can explore cutting-edge technologies including 3D printing, digital cutting, robotics, and more. As part of PIXEL Labs@NLB, this innovation hub offers hands-on workshops and talks that bridge the gap between traditional learning and modern technology.
The library seamlessly integrates with Our Tampines Hub's comprehensive amenities, including culinary studios, an indoor playground, and a 700-meter running track. Special facilities like the children's playhouse create a family-friendly environment that encourages lifelong learning.
Operating under the National Library Board's mission to nurture "Readers for Life, Learning Communities and a Knowledgeable Nation," Tampines Regional Library exemplifies Singapore's commitment to accessible, innovative public education and community building.

"There are lots of books available, but some of the staff are pretty rude, while others are useless because they don't get rid of the selfish parents and their screaming kids."

Previously, I encountered a rude staff member who wouldn't let me prepare a milk bottle at the entrance. They seemed to think I was bringing my toddler to the library *just* to feed him. I didn't even get a chance to take my son to the library to introduce him to books.
Today, my husband and I attempted to introduce him to the library and books, but before we even got to the lift, my son became interested in the exhibition. He explored it for a bit, but a security guard became upset that I was pushing a pram. He assumed I was pushing the pram *through* the exhibition, when I was simply standing in a corner, replying to messages.
Tampines Library is the worst (sadly, it's in my neighborhood), and please don't advocate introducing books or reading to children when your staff is not at all aligned with this principle.

Located within Our Tampines Hub (OTH), this library has five levels that cater to all ages, from level 2 for young children to level 6 for older residents. All levels are accessible via escalators or lifts, and the library features modern facilities.
The residents of Tampines are very lucky. It was quite crowded on the Sunday I visited, and it looks like the library is widely used and popular.

"Huge library with many books available. It would be best if this concept library went to all islands."

"Fantastic collection of books, DVDs, and other educational materials. It's certainly pleasing to the eye aesthetically, with its modern look and spaciousness, though you have to walk quite a distance to drop your books off.
In addition, there are great views due to the glass panels that allow you to see the main road and the stadium.
Last but not least, there are many private corners where you can read in peace. Loved such intimacy 😂"

The Tampines Hub Library is an amazing location to read, learn, relax, and read again. It's packed with a lot of goodies for everyone, with five levels of dedicated areas for kids, children, teens, young adults, adults, and seniors. Other than books, which any other library provides, it also has an audio section, video lessons, movies, cooking lessons, a kids' playground, a study area, a computer area, and a venue for events. The list goes on and on. It's a massive upgrade from the previous library. The rich design and color do set the mood for each level you are at. It's a must to check this place out!
