Reviews for Boon Lay Ho Huat Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee

$5 for a small plate of fried Hokkien Mee. How does it taste? In a word, salty. Beyond that, there is nothing—no depth, no umami, no flavor to savor. With the first bite, my heart sank. The pork lard was also not fresh. It's a quiet kind of heartbreak to part with $5 and receive only disappointment in return. And if I finish it, it would be a waste of calorie intake.

The Hokkien Prawn Mee tastes alright; however, the texture is a bit watery.

"The thick bee hoon used was good. The taste was good, but not fantastic. The price ($4.80 for a small plate) felt a little steep, especially considering it's located in a hawker centre."

"A plate of well-cooked Hokkien Mee. Braised to perfection. The stock used was not too prawny, and not *jelak*. The sambal tasted normal."

The fried Hokkien mee is too wet; it would be better if it were a bit drier.
