MINDS Film Festival 2026 lands at Our Tampines Hub on Sunday, 27 September. Two free screenings share Festive Plaza that afternoon: Please Stand By at 1.30pm and Super Wang Wang at 4.45pm. Registration opens 30 minutes before each film. Seats are first come, first served once you have a reservation.
This is the ninth edition, jointly run by MINDS and the Singapore Film Society. The festival moved into heartland venues this year instead of a single downtown hall. Our Tampines Hub is the East stop, after SAFRA Choa Chu Kang on 19 September, Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre on 20 September, and SAFRA Punggol on 26 September. SAFRA Punggol is the other North-East date if you miss Tampines. Admission is free at every site. Tickets opened 19 August on Eventbrite. The two films
Please Stand By (2017, 93 minutes, English) follows Wendy, a young woman with autism, as she carries a 500-page Star Trek screenplay across the country to a writing contest. Super Wang Wang (2025, 97 minutes, Mandarin with English and Chinese subtitles) follows Wang Wang, a boy with intellectual disability raised in a forest, who finds speed skating and fights his way onto a Special Olympics team. MINDS is screening Super Wang Wang as the later film on all four festival days.
The plaza programme is longer than the runtimes. Organisers built in an early welcome gift, a social-enterprise marketplace of bakes, crafts, and portraits by persons with intellectual disability, a pre-show quiz with travel-pouch prizes, and a post-film reflection. Closing is listed at 7pm. If you only want the second film, still arrive for the 4.15pm registration rather than walking in at 4.45pm. Reserved seats can be released.
MINDS says the festival has shown more than 40 films and reached about 5,000 viewers since 2016. The point of putting it in Festive Plaza is that Tampines residents can turn up without a city-centre trip. Bring water. Plaza seating is not a cinema with assigned numbers. It is a community plaza that also hosts free weekend movies on other dates, so the screen and sound will be familiar if you already use OTH that way. Reserve on Eventbrite, then show up early. If you want both films, plan a three-hour gap and eat inside the hub rather than leaving the building.
Our Tampines Hub is at 1 Tampines Walk, above Tampines MRT on the East-West and Downtown lines. Festive Plaza is on Level 1.
