Century Square Turns 8 — Giant Human Claw Machine, Daily iPhone 17 and a Birthday Parade on 25 July
Century Square in Tampines is marking its eighth anniversary with a month-long Birthday Bash from 3 July to 9 August 2026, and the headline activation is genuinely unusual: a Giant Human Claw Machine where you become the claw. The atrium-level attraction runs during the Happy-verse playground window from 27 July to 2 August, and every attempt comes with a sure-win prize from a pool worth over $25,000, including daily iPhone 17 giveaways, a Zero Healthcare massage chair valued at $2,990, Sony PlayStation 5 consoles, Golden Village movie tickets, FairPrice Finest vouchers and exclusive Pokémon cards.
The redemption mechanic is the thing to understand before you go. Entry to the atrium experience and one turn on the Giant Human Claw Machine needs a minimum spend of $30 in a single, same-day transaction at a participating FRx store, redeemed in person at the concierge with your FRx QR code scanned. Spend tiers stack across the month: $10 at B1 food kiosks earns a stamp on a separate stamp card, $30 unlocks the events and birthday treats, and $150 unlocks the premium crossbody bag. The rewards are not stackable on a single receipt, so the play is to split purchases rather than combine them.
Become the claw, and the Happy-verse playground
The Happy-verse atrium experience runs from 27 July to 2 August, Monday to Friday 12pm to 9pm and Saturday to Sunday 11am to 9pm. Two installations sit inside it. The Giant Human Claw Machine straps participants in to become the actual claw, lowering them into a pit of real prizes within a limited time. The Move to the Beat installation is an upsized version of those viral coordination videos: children wave their arms at massive digital screens where every action triggers a new visual surprise. Both are designed for kids, but the claw machine is the one parents end up wanting to try.
Every claw attempt is sure-win, which is the hook. You are not paying to try; you are paying $30 at a participating store and the claw turn is the reward. The prize pool is large enough that the daily iPhone 17 giveaway is the headline most families are aiming at, but the FairPrice Finest vouchers and Pokémon cards are the more realistic wins. Last redemption at the Happy-verse is 8.30pm each day, so arriving earlier in the day avoids the evening queue.
Birthday Parade on 25 July — and the $300 best-dressed prize
Saturday 25 July is the anchor day of the whole bash. From 2pm to 5pm, the mall runs Birthday Treats redeemable with a $30 same-day spend: popsicles, cake pops, balloon sculptures, a giant bubble experience, and a roaming giveaway squad handing out exclusive freebies. From 5pm to 6pm, the Birthday Parade weaves through the mall with dancers, stilt walkers and drummers, throwing giveaways along the route: Disney blind boxes, drink vouchers from Starbucks, Bober Tea and Old Tea Hut, tote bags, pouches, sticker books, balloons and complimentary massage vouchers.
For parents who want their child in the parade, pre-registration runs 3 to 23 July with a $30 same-day spend. Children aged 3 to 12 receive a makeover pack and a curated goodie bag worth $50, and the top three best-dressed participants win FRx Gift Cards valued at $300, $200 and $100. The registration closes on 23 July, so this is the one thing in the bash you cannot leave to the last minute.
How to max the redemptions
The rewards do not stack, so the optimal play is to split your spending. Spend $30 on lunch in one receipt to lock in your child's parade slot early in the month, then spend another $150 across three separate transactions later to unlock the crossbody bag. The crossbody bag has two designs: Design 1 runs 3 to 19 July (blue-green is already fully redeemed), and Design 2 runs 20 July to 9 August. From 6 July, FRx 50+ members get an additional $5 FRx Gift Card with their bag redemption while stocks last.
The B1 Food Kiosk Stamp Card is the slow-burn reward. Collect the card from the Level 3 concierge (it comes as a tissue pack), then earn one stamp per day with a $10 spend at any of 14 eligible B1 kiosks: Nine Fresh, Maki-San, Bober Tea, Krispy Kreme, Beard Papa's, Dickson Nasi Lemak and others. Stamps build to $5 SGFR Store voucher (1 stamp), $5 FairPrice Finest voucher (3 stamps), a Happy-verse entry pass (4 stamps), $2 Ya Kun voucher (5 stamps), another $5 FairPrice voucher (6 stamps) and a $10 FRx Gift Card (8 stamps).
