THE WORST ACTIVE SG GYM I’VE EVER BEEN TO. Not only is it small and usually crowded during peak hours, it’s filthy, unhygienic, under-maintained, and badly ventilated. Look at the photos and judge for yourself. The water point could pass for a rubbish chute. It’s a wonder the users aren’t getting poisoned. The toilet floor is constantly wet with puddles and dirty. There is no proper hand soap in the toilet, just a bottle of very diluted liquid. One tap is broken. The inner gym felt like a sauna even though it was raining outside. The only answer from the staff was that maintenance was fixing it "now." I waited almost an hour more and it didn’t get better. Besides, the usual ventilation is already horrendous, which I think management is aware of (and I guess is why they place fans around). But it doesn’t fix the issue because the air is still musty and humid with the smell of sweaty bodies in a confined space, which anyone knows promotes bacterial and mold growth, which can cause some serious sicknesses. I really hope Active SG or Our Tampines Hub Facility management can do something to improve the situation. People go there to get healthy, not pick up third-world sanitation standard illnesses. It’s just shameful at this point.

This was my favorite gym... but sadly, the air conditioning has been under maintenance for two weeks now. I thought we were encouraged to exercise more, but with these kinds of workout facilities? Furthermore, the staff have to tolerate the sauna-like conditions for hours... Get it fixed! Tampines Hub management...

Excellent choice and array of equipment that is decently maintained. There are 2 elevated squat racks and 3-4 Smith machines (I think). I spend most of my time in the free weights area near the punching bag, and there's plenty of room for me to do my body weight exercises. However, I'd suggest having a proper demarcation or physical barrier around that area, as people still tend to walk through, which can be disruptive to routines. A major concern recently has been the air conditioning and ventilation; it gets really humid, especially during peak traffic periods. But I'm not really complaining; you're supposed to be working up a sweat if you're serious about fitness and endurance, isn't that right? Improvements in cleanliness and/or upgrades in the bathrooms, equipment maintenance, and possibly a reconfiguration of the equipment layout should definitely be concerns worth implementing. A mini facelift goes a long way!

Every week, there are always machines that can't be used. The place is very dusty and frequently has problems with its AC, machines, and more. I suggest there should be a limit to the number of people allowed in the gym at once, or the number of people who can sign up for membership. A one-hour workout ends up taking more than two hours because of how packed the gym is. Please do something about this; it makes people lose a lot of their precious time.

So hot and stuffy, and they expect people to work out inside. Has the air conditioning been broken for two days? Now they've brought in a giant fan covered in dust. You mean to say that after three days, you still can't solve the air conditioning problem? So much for a government-related service. *Air conditioning still down as of May 5th. Would a hotel or shopping mall allow this to happen?

I went to check out this location after reading reviews. It's far from my home, so I probably won't come back. The machines are new and work smoothly. There are many Smith machines, like four of them, which is more than most gyms have (usually two). It also has two A-line cable machines and a large multi-cable machine station. There's no area for stretching at all. It was nice to see two stair stepper machines. The pool is large with two kid areas.

"I'm able to get a workout in, but the air conditioning has been out for 4 weeks already, with them saying they will fix it soon. It hasn't been very soon, though, so please ActiveSG fix this. Everyone is sweating like crazy, even when doing simple weight training. Some machines are also dusty or dirty here and there."

"This gym used to be okay, as the equipment provided was good for the price. However, after coming here for two years, the gym has slowly deteriorated, with either no cleaning or lackluster cleaning done on the floor and equipment. Weights have become rusty and painful to grip, while most of the gym is caked with disgusting dust, making you feel like you're inhaling dust with every breath. In addition, the gym is full most of the time, forcing people to share equipment with two or three others, especially during peak hours. For two months, the air conditioning has been broken, with staff doing nothing to resolve the issue. Without air conditioning, the air is stuffy and devoid of oxygen, making breathing challenging and cardio almost impossible. This brings me to my next problem: the staff are unhelpful and only berate you if you don't bring a towel, otherwise just standing around staring. It's unclear what they're being paid to do. The only reason this gym exists is because of its cheap price due to government subsidies, and it's the only reason I'm here now typing this review. For a gym run by a branch of the Singapore government, I expect better."

This gym is spacious and has a lot of equipment and weights, making it good for most exercises. The only drawback is that the changing area and washroom are small compared to some other locations. Of course, like at any other gym, students sometimes hog the machines; you just have to ask them to move.

"The air conditioning and ventilation issues haven't been fixed for two months already, which is quite ridiculous. It's like the management doesn't want to fix the problem. Free sauna, and you might possibly pass out from the lack of air."
