Sharing an unpleasant encounter I had with this center. I initially refrained from posting this online as I had wanted to deal with this through the center, but as there has been no official word since my last correspondence with its HQ, I am doing so now. I am sharing this as factually as possible, based on what happened and transpired. I withdrew my child from the center in late January 2025 because my child was reprimanded in a way which I felt was inappropriate. His/her booklet was torn up in front of him/her and he/she was made to stand in a corner during one of the sessions. I found out about this from my child the next day after it happened, and I immediately contacted the center and the in-charge, who was also the incident tutor. While the tutor acknowledged my displeasure for what happened, she/he stopped short of admitting that the action was uncalled for and did not apologize for what he/she did. I decided to withdraw my child. See messages I sent to the tutor and in-charge over a few exchanges (I only share what I texted to highlight what I feel): -- As per what I shared with you over the phone, your actions (ripping his worksheet and making him stand in a corner) crossed the line of what we can accept from a private tuition/education center. We can accept and have my child attend tuition where his/her tutors are strict, firm, and stern, but they do not need to take such actions, even when he/she is difficult. I also want to say that it does not make it any better or okay, even if the child is resilient and doesn’t think anything of it. Truth be told, we got more disturbed and perturbed as we thought about this incident and how it has been handled, over the next two days. Your account does not corroborate with my child's account, and we really feel it will be difficult for him/her to continue to learn in the center effectively and safely. Also, from what has been shared by yourself over the messages, my sense is that you do not think what you did was unacceptable, and I am not talking about not informing us of the incident. To us, it is unacceptable to subject anyone to what you did - tearing up the worksheet and having the student stand in a corner. What happened was hardly just a ‘verbal reprimand.’ As such, we will withdraw him/her from the center. Please follow up to facilitate the return of any deposit accordingly. -- After our withdrawal, the in-charge did continue to suggest a meeting to 'close' the matter properly but made no effort to do so, except for a few short messages to ask us to meet at their convenience. I did not bother to reply or correspond further, as she did not agree to meet at a time of our convenience, between 12-2pm. After withdrawal, I wrote to the HQ to report the case. I was contacted by someone who showed much concern and agreed that this should not happen, and assured me that he would investigate, but sadly, he never came back to me. This was in early February 2025. Hence, I am sharing this now for everyone's reference. I decided to do so because I do not want this to happen to others, as I feel that the in-charge did not apologize to us for his/her actions, and I fear that he/she will continue to do so in the future.
