Ah Fat Braised Duck Rice • Kway Chap (啊肥卤鸭饭 • 粿汁) brings authentic Teochew comfort food to Our Tampines Hub Hawker Centre, specializing in traditional braised duck preparations and the beloved kway chap experience. This local hawker stall represents the heart of Singapore's street food culture, serving up generations-old recipes in a bustling food court setting.
The stall's signature offering is their braised duck rice, featuring tender duck meat that has been slow-cooked in a rich, aromatic braising sauce infused with traditional Chinese spices and herbs. Each portion is served with fragrant rice that absorbs the flavorful braising liquid, creating a harmonious combination of textures and tastes.
Equally popular is their kway chap, a traditional Teochew dish consisting of flat rice noodle sheets served in a savory broth alongside various braised offal and meat selections. This comfort food staple showcases the stall's expertise in traditional braising techniques, with each ingredient carefully prepared to achieve optimal tenderness and flavor absorption.
The menu also features duck porridge, offering a lighter alternative that maintains the rich, savory essence of their braised duck preparations. The porridge provides a comforting, easily digestible option while delivering the same authentic flavors that define traditional Teochew cuisine.
Located within the vibrant Our Tampines Hub Hawker Centre, Ah Fat operates in the authentic hawker tradition, with dishes prepared fresh daily and served in a no-frills environment that prioritizes flavor and value. The stall attracts both local residents and visitors seeking genuine hawker food experiences.
While customer feedback varies, with some noting the need for more consistent seasoning and portion sizes, Ah Fat continues to serve as an accessible introduction to traditional Teochew braised dishes. The stall represents the ongoing evolution of Singapore's hawker culture, where traditional recipes meet modern dining expectations in one of the island's most popular integrated hubs.

Today, Kitty and I set out on a cycling adventure, ending our journey at Tampines Hub for a well-deserved lunch. We were drawn to the long queue at Ah Fat Braised Duck Rice & Kway Chap, hoping for a delicious treat. Kitty opted for Set A with two extra kway, thinking the ingredients would be enough for two. However, when it was served, we found that the portion was rather small, not really enough for two people to share.
Despite our initial hopefulness, we found that the kway chap and kway were unfortunately rather bland. The kway chap lacked the depth of flavor we expected, and even after Kitty added extra sauce, it remained underwhelming. While the duck *was* tender and flavorful, the overall experience left us wanting more.
We suspect that the long queue might be due to patrons opting for the duck rice instead of the kway chap. We'll definitely be back to try the duck rice and update our rating accordingly.
Given our experience, we'd suggest giving Ah Fat a 3-star rating on Google for now. While the duck was good, the blandness of the kway chap ultimately disappointed us, and the portion size was smaller than expected.

Ah Fat Braised Duck Rice & Kway Chap (Tampines Hub): Duck is Good, But Kway Chap Needs Some Flavor (3/5 Stars)
Rating:
• Atmosphere: 3/5 (Typical hawker centre setting, clean and comfortable)
• Food Quality: 3/5 (Tender and flavorful duck, but kway chap was bland, and the portion size was smaller than expected)
• Service: 3/5
• Value: 3/5 (Prices were reasonable, but the lack of flavor in the kway chap made the value questionable)
Overall: 3/5

"I ordered the duck rice. The rice was hard and lacked flavor. The soup was a bit salty. The duck meat and chili were still acceptable."

I ordered the duck porridge with added meat (an additional $3) and was very disappointed with the portion size of the meat. There was so little that I could fit every piece on my spoon. I can't imagine how little meat there would have been if I hadn't added it. I'm disappointed because I usually love their food.
Jamie Khoo
The duck porridge was too salty, and the duck meat had a gamey taste. The service was poor, and the hawker's attitude was bad 👎.
