Position Title: Therapy Aide cum Driver
Location: Metta Day Rehabilitation Centre (Tampines)
Reports to: Operations Executive / Physiotherapist / Centre Manager
About Metta Day Rehabilitation Centre
Metta Day Rehabilitation Centre (MDRC), located in Simei, is part of Metta Welfare Association — a non-profit organisation established in 1992. MDRC offers outpatient rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to support elderly clients and individuals recovering from stroke, injury, or illness. Our goal is to help clients regain independence, mobility, and improve their quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Therapy Support
- Assist physiotherapists and occupational therapists in implementing client care plans.
- Support clients during therapy sessions, including lifting and transferring when necessary.
- Monitor and report any abnormalities or safety concerns involving clients.
- Accurately document therapy activities and client progress daily.
- Handle and maintain rehabilitative equipment; report faults promptly.
- Ensure a safe environment for all therapy activities.
- Encourage client participation in centre-based programmes.
- Assist in the organisation of internal and external centre events.
Transport Duties
- Transport clients to and from MDRC in accordance with the assigned schedule.
- Ensure clients’ safety during transport and adhere to traffic regulations at all times.
- Accompany clients for outdoor activities or medical appointments when needed.
- Respond promptly to emergencies that may occur during transport or activities.
- Report vehicle maintenance needs to the Operations Executive and arrange servicing when required.
Other Duties
- Participate in Metta fundraising events and organisation-wide initiatives.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Secondary school education. WSQ Certificate or NITEC in Therapy Services is an advantage.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a rehabilitation or eldercare setting.
- Possess a valid Class 3 driving license with a clean record.
- Enjoy working with elderly clients and individuals with physical disabilities.
- Able to communicate effectively in English and at least one other local language or dialect to better engage with elderly clients, many of whom are more comfortable speaking in dialect.
- Responsible, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- BCLS + AED certified (or willing to obtain upon employment).
